Israelis held somber ceremonies Monday to mark a year since the deadliest attack in the country’s history, a Hamas-led raid that shattered its sense of security and has since spiraled into wars on two fronts with no end in sight. FRANCE 24’s Sharon Gaffney speaks to Alon Pinkas, who served as Israel’s consul general in New York from 2000 to 2004. He says that the general mindset in Israel is still one of devastation, agony, humiliation and shock even a year after the attacks.
