Premier League fixtures today – your guide to Sunday’s games

After a small offering of Premier League football on Saturday, fans can look forward to another instalment of top-flight action this Sunday.

There are just two matches in England’s top tier this Sunday as the mini winter break continues, both of which are available to watch live on TV for audiences in the United Kingdom.

Aston Villa face a trip to Everton in the 212th top-flight fixture between the two sides, while Tottenham Hotspur are also on the road, travelling to Manchester United in a mighty clash.

Here is your guide to Sunday’s Premier League football.

Everton played out a pretty drab goalless draw with Crystal Palace in the FA Cup third round, leaving Sean Dyche’s side with an unwanted replay during their supposed winter break. It was the fifth game without a win for the Toffees, who now face the unenviable task of trying to topple high-flying Aston Villa this Sunday.

Villa have been in wonderful form under Unai Emery this season and have only lost four Premier League games all term. Having edged past Middlesbrough in the FA Cup third round, Sunday’s clash is the Villans’ final game until the fourth round of the cup against Chelsea at the end of the month.

While Goodison Park hasn’t been an easy ground to navigate this season for visiting sides, Villa will take confidence from their previous league clash with the Toffees this campaign. The Midlands club ran out 4-0 winners on that day in August, although Everton did win the Carabao Cup meeting between the teams in late September at Villa Park.

Wigan Athletic v Manchester United - Emirates FA Cup Third Round

Manchester United enjoyed some slight respite from a difficult period last Monday in the FA Cup third round, beating League One Wigan Athletic 2-0 at the DW Stadium. However, the real test for Erik ten Hag comes this weekend as the Red Devils welcome Tottenham to Old Trafford.

Man Utd did win their last home game against Aston Villa, coming from two goals down to triumph 3-2 on Boxing Day. But Spurs, who have won five of their last six games in all competitions, will be feeling confident heading to Manchester.

The Lilywhites won the reverse fixture in August 2-0, albeit they will be without several key personnel on this occasion due to the Asian Cup and Africa Cup of Nations. Ten Hag can only dream of cultivating the positive atmosphere that Ange Postecoglou has in north London, with Spurs’ high-octane approach perhaps proving too much for Man Utd to handle.
