Premier League fixtures today – your guide to Saturday’s games

The Premier League returns on Saturday with five games and some of the biggest teams in the division in action.

There are no top-half clashes but there is big potential for some upsets around the country. Fans will be paying close attention to Man Utd’s clash with Luton Town, while Tottenham will look to bounce back in the early slot away at Wolves.

Newcastle will be trying to continue their good form in the evening slot with an appealing-looking clash against Bournemouth, with action throughout the day at both ends of the table. As always, there are few certainties in the Premier League, so everything is worth keeping an eye on.

Here’s all you need to know about the five top-flight matches coming your way on Saturday.

It’s been hard to work out what exactly Tottenham should take away from the Chelsea defeat on Monday night with just so much to consider. There was a great start but then came the injuries, the terrible discipline and the opinion-dividing tactics.

What is certain, however, is that their unbeaten run is over and this is where things could get tough for Ange Postecoglou. Despite their many absentees with the likes of James Maddison, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero all sidelined, Spurs will still want to respond to the defeat to show they remain title contenders.

It will not be easy to get three points away at Wolves given they are a solid side with some dangerous players.

Manchester United just cannot stay out of the headlines at the moment, and it’s not for the right reasons. The win over Fulham last weekend was extremely welcome, but then the dramatic Champions League loss to Copenhagen means the pressure is on yet again.

In that situation, a home game against Luton Town is perhaps what most coaches would ask for. This will not be a simple match, as Liverpool found out last weekend, but Man Utd should still have enough firepower to get all three points.

If they can play like they did in the first 40 minutes on Wednesday night, the Red Devils should pick up the victory.

Arsenal may still be feeling extremely angry about the events at Newcastle on Saturday, but they have to put that behind them and secure three points in the Premier League. Losing away at Newcastle can be forgiven, but losing at home to Burnley can’t.

They did well to beat Sevilla 2-0 at the Emirates on Wednesday night and that will have helped the team calm down somewhat from last weekend. Mikel Arteta now needs a professional performance from his team to keep pace with those at the top.

Two of the more unpredictable sides in the Premier League mid-table, this game is tricky to call.

Everton’s form has picked up recently but they are still struggling to properly move up the table. That said, they have a pleasant five-point gap over Luton in 17th.

Crystal Palace only have four more points than Everton but are up in 11th and know they can move ahead of Chelsea with a win and a poorer result for the Blues. It’s a good chance for a win for Everton, but Palace will be thinking the same.

Newcastle have been climbing up the Premier League table impressively after their difficult start to the campaign, and while their Champions League progression hopes took a blow on Tuesday, they look like strong contenders to reach the top four again.

The win against Arsenal last weekend was a huge part of that and they are back in the 17:30 GMT time slot to take on Bournemouth on the south coast, a game that looks like it could be a lot simpler for Eddie Howe’s men.

Having just been hammered by Manchester City, Bournemouth will be looking to avoid a similar result this weekend.
