Los Angeles Lakers’ shooting guard, Austin Reaves, found himself in an unexpected and prestigious position as part of Team USA for this year’s FIBA World Cup.
What’s even more remarkable is that Reaves didn’t just fill a roster spot; he left a lasting impression that surprised many within the national team.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, speaking on The Hoop Collective Podcast, revealed (h/t Peter Dewey of Lakers Daily), “A player that I had several people say has really impressed them and been, like, much better than they were expecting has been Austin Reaves.”
Reaves averaged 11.4 points, 4 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 16.4 minutes over five preparation games for Team USA as the Americans went 5-0 ahead of the World Cup.
