Both Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics are expected to resume their contract extension talks next week according to Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe. Brown made his return to the United States after an NBPA retreat in Spain.
Boston’s No.1 priority throughout this offseason is to land an extended pact with Brown. After making 2nd Team All-NBA last season, the All-Star became qualified for a supermax extension.
He may sign for five years which may even reach over $300MM – making it one of the most lucrative extensions in the NBA ever.
In his press conference, Celtics team president Brad Stevens expressed his optimism that they’ll be able to retain Brown and made it known that they want the star swingman to be with them in a long-term viewpoint.
Brown, 26, averaged career highs in points (26.6), boards (6.9), assists (3.5) and field goal shooting (49.1%) for 67 games of play last 2022-23 regular season.
